I researched tires for about a month before I made a decision. I decided on these because of the technology Goodyear has put into them. These have the carbon fiber reinforced sidewalls and kevlar reinforced tread. I was nearly going to purchase a different Goodyear tire with carbon fiber in just the outer sidewall, but heard they constantly needed to be rebalanced.

I purhased these in July in nice warm weather. The tires handle great on turns, are very responsive, and give great driver feedback. It's now October and the rains are here. I'm very impressed with the grip these tires have. I can put the pedal to the floor from a dead stop usually with no wheel spin, occasionally I will get just a bit of wheelspin, usually with the wheel turned from a dead stop. My GTi is completely stock with VW's Tiptronic (automatic) transmission.

These tires do produce a little bit more noise than the OEM Michelins they replaced. A very minor inconvenience quickly overshadowed by the tires handling characteristics. With the radio on a low volume I don't even notice it. I've read reviews by some who have indicated the noise increases as the tread decreases. I guess we'll see.
