I have a 19' Center console boat that came with Goodyear Marathon ST 215/75 R 14 tires on it from the factory. The boat package is about 2300# and the dealer told me to keep 40 psi in the tires for proper inflation. I always check the pressure before every trip, because the last thing I want is a flat tire on the side of the interstate with trucks wizing by 4' behind me at 70 MPH.
On my way back from South Florida, I had a blow out that we heard in the truck, while driving at 60 MPH. "CAUTION", these tires are only rated for 65 MPH. I replaced it with another Goodyear Matathon, just thinking it was a fluke. Three months later, on the vary next trip, we went to Alabama and on the way back, BOOM, The OTHER tire Blow Out. I will never buy another Goodyear Tire again. And the three month old Goodyear that cost $114 is going to the recycle plant.
Don't make the same mistake I did. I am going to install Cooper Trendsetter SE 75/85. These are passenger car tires with more than enough load capacity for my boat, and I will probably not wear out the 40,000 mile tread before they age there life away.I hope this save someone else a big headache.
